A Company in the Heart of Irpinia

The Vigna Maurisi farm was founded in 2007 by Felice E. Corcione, well- known Director of the National Research Council (CNR) and "Invited Professor" at numerous Universities in the world. Retired from the CNR, he founded the company together with his wife. After extensive studies of pruning, fertilizing and phytosanitary treatments aimed at safeguarding the environment and quality wine-making, he began the production and marketing of DOCG wines such as Greco di Tufo, Aglianico, and Aglianico-Taurasi. The vineyards are located in the volcanic areas of Irpinia. They are conducted in a bio-dynamic way to respect the symbiosis of Nature-Plants-Animals. The estate consists of three hectares: one for each type of grapes. The annual production is 30,000 bottles: 10,000 bottles for each type of wine. Vigna_Maurisi_logo

Vigna Maurisi is in Prata Principato Ultra, in the heart of  Irpinia, an area of fertile soil, of clayey nature containing precious minerals of volcanic nature. Since the Guyot pruning for whites and spurred cordon for reds, inspired by the National School of Pruning by Marco Simonit & Co, the goal was to optimize the production of grapes in favor of the highest quality, which with a consequent careful vinification has allowed to obtain high quality wines both in aroma and in purity We preserve the ancient methods, we harvest by hand choosing the best grapes, with the same passion handed down for millennia and that still today keeps campania Felix alive.

Vigna Maurisi applies the bio-dynamic method in the cultivation of its vineyard, in particular with particular care in the processes that feed the forces linked to the ground on one side and those related to the light of the sun on the other, keeping them in harmony. Thus the vineyard "lives" in the balance between these two forces.

The Bio-dynamic Cultivation Of Vigna Maurisi

Felice Corcione applies the bio-dynamic cultivation of his vineyard. In particular, care with a determination of the processes that generate the forces connected to the ground on one side and those related to the light of the sun on the other, keeping them in harmony. Therefore, the vineyard “lives” in the balance between these two forces. With the use of natural compost helps the formation of humus in the soil, true reservoir of vitality and wealth.

Compost promotes processes that implement soil fertility. To this it is associated with the water used, always pure, rain and spring, which becomes the carrier of living “information” that will lead to soil and the vines. Vigna_Maurisi_FarmWith the autumn sowing of various essences multifloreals which then bury in the spring increases biodiversity, making the vineyard closest to the natural ecosystem spontaneous.
